Hats off to this server for making sure this kid's prom night did not go as planned. This thread was posted to Reddit's r/TalesFromYourServer subreddit by u/Cherie-sweetie, who proved once again with their post that servers have to put up with more nonsense than most people in this world. On top of that, this thread is also further proof that teenagers are the worst breed of humans.
Here, we have a server who was tasked with waiting on a group of high school prom kids at a hibachi restaurant before the dance. First of all, let's all acknowledge that this was a horrible idea for a pre-prom meal. Hibachi is not only filling but it's also smelly. Don't get me wrong: I love hibachi and will have it most nights I can afford it (rarely), but I would never want my prom attire to smell like hibachi for the entire night (and if you're returning your suit/tux, good luck not getting a reaction!).
But back to the main story: everything seemed to be going well until after most of the group was leaving the restaurant. That's when the server caught one kid trying to steal all the tip money left on the table. Although it was too late for the server to catch the prom thief in the garage, they did make sure that their prom night would not go smoothly by informing the dude's girlfriend of what happened. Hopefully, she shames the guy or even breaks up with him (unless she was in on the whole scheme too)!
